South Carolina BlueCross and Benefitfocus Launch New Data Service

Mount Pleasant, SC - Oct 20, 2003 - BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and Benefitfocus.com have launched a new data service for large companies that self-fund their employee health insurance. Called DataWise Solution, this new service helps large companies format and transmit their employee health insurance data.

Employee health insurance enrollment and eligibility data is very complex and requires regular transmission between separate information systems. Additionally, the new Federal HIPAA law requires specific formats for this type of data. These needs, coupled with the increasing complexity of health insurance offerings, require a seamless, secure and accurate data transmission process.

Working with in-house information technology departments, DataWise Solution provides easy-to-understand data setup specifications that ready the data for transmission. Once received by DataWise Solution, this sensitive and complex data is formatted to comply with HIPAA 834 specifications. In the final step the formatted data is sent to the BlueCross membership system in a secure and timely manner.
