| BlueChoice HealthPlan announces fully integrated suite of enrollment and billing Internet tools for small and large groups
|
|
Charleston, SC and Columbia, SC. - April 26, 2005 - BlueChoice HelathPlan, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, is now offering an integrated electronic enrollment and billing solution to groups with under 50 employees. With QuickEnroll and QuickBill, both small and large groups now have access to the electronic enrollment and billing suite powered by Benefitfocus.com.
|
| "We are excited and proud to be the first
in our state to offer a comprehensive set of Internet based
tools for small and large groups," says Bill Ferguson, Vice
President of Sales and Marketing, BlueChoice HealthPlan. "We
are first to market with fully integrated options for our customers.
Judging from our past success with Benefitfocus enrollment
technology, we predict we will be the market leader in small
group enrollment and billing service.”
|
| Benefitfocus.com’s eEnrollment technology
powers QuickEnroll, BlueChoice HealthPlan's electronic
enrollment solution, and BluesEnroll, BlueCross BlueShield
of South Carolina’s electronic enrollment offering. First offered
in December of 2000, the technology is currently used by over
500 employers in the state of South Carolina.
|
| QuickBill is powered by Benefitfocus.com’s eBilling technology, the industry’s most comprehensive and dynamic electronic invoice presentment and payment (EIPP) system. It is fully integrated with Benefitfocus eEnrollment technology and is designed specifically for insurance carriers and their customers.
|
| "QuickBill is allowing us
to reduce our administrative invoicing costs," states Tim Vaughn,
CFO of BlueChoice HealthPlan. "In addition, QuickBill offers
a value-add for our customers by consolidating bills plus making
them more accurate and easy to understand. Not to mention,
we are now able to augment our existing customer service capabilities."
|
| "With an in-depth knowledge of the
insurance industry, we’ve developed a solution to address every
aspect of the enrollment and payment cycle—from managing annual
open enrollment to automated reconciliation and secure payment
transactions," says Shawn Jenkins, President and CEO of Benefitfocus.com.
"Integration with legacy and enrollment systems is our key
advantage. This enables a dynamic flow of data, and as a result,
Benefitfocus is the first to provide carriers with a complete,
full-circle employee benefits process."
|
| Benefitfocus’ technology is easy to use and integrates with disparate membership and billing systems. These features and others have resulted in an unprecedented adoption rate of over 85%, when most carriers struggle to achieve adoption rates of 10 to 15% of their Internet technologies.
|
| QuickEnroll offers broker access as well as BlueChoice HealthPlan's pre-sales health statement and underwriting process. It is a major advancement over the often error prone and time-consuming process of managing the large volume of small groups. QuickEnroll captures data, via the web, from all parties. It manages the workflow, in a secure fashion, and delivers transactions directly to BlueChoice HealthPlan's membership and billing system. This system provides instant access to information by all parties and greatly improves the accuracy and timeliness of the multi-step process. |
| Currently Benefitfocus' list of clients insures over 12.5 million members, and the company serves more Blue plans than any other provider. "We have the technology, the willpower and the market adoption plan to get the message out to groups in a way they can consume it. And we help all of our carriers get it into the marketing and sales channel," says Jenkins. "We’ve built technology and services that will work for almost any type of business: construction companies, grocery stores, hotels, etc. Our implementation of both web and kiosks gets the product to the 80 percent of the workforce that doesn’t sit in front of a computer every day."
|
| QuickBill is designed specifically for insurance carriers and their customers. It features three primary components: web-based invoicing, automated reconciliation and online bill pay. By delivering robust capabilities combined with an intuitive interface, QuickBill is designed to streamline processes, lower costs, and improve cash flow. This enables users to rapidly transmit changes in benefits and generate more accurate, timely billing statements. QuickBill saves an estimated $9.50 for every invoice generated, which quickly adds up to a significant ROI.
