eBilling

Transform the Billing Process

The Benefitfocus eBilling Application ™ is an Electronic Invoice Presentment & Payment (EIPP) solution designed specifically for insurance carriers who are ready to eliminate the time lag, cost and inefficiency inherent in paper-based billing. The eBilling App enables your clients to view and pay invoices online and consolidates invoices from multiple lines of business and carriers so that your clients receive only one bill.

Provide a Consolidated Invoice to Your Customers

Clients who are accustomed to receiving multiple bills for their benefits will be delighted that you provide them with one consolidated bill for all their benefits. Your clients view and pay their consolidated bill or drill down to view and pay individual bills separately.

When viewing their bills within the eBilling App, clients sort and filter the data as needed, or they export the information to a spreadsheet for further manipulation. In addition, they can group billing information by department or location and create user accounts that are only able to see a particular sub-group.

Define the tab names, fields and column labels

Customize the Online Billing Experience

When you implement the eBilling App, you have complete control over what your customers see when they review their bills online. You can configure the columns, headings, labels and text that are used throughout the customer experience. In addition, you can customize the specific columns, headings, sorting and filtering options that are available to your users.

Reach Out to Clients with Video

The eBilling App provides you with a unique opportunity to reach your customers through videos and messages that display when they access their account online to pay their bills each month. You can use this functionality much like the paper invoice stuffer -- make announcements about new products, upsell your clients on ancillary benefits or prompt them to turn off their paper bill. In addition, you can target different videos and messages to different types of clients or even to specific clients.

Synchronize Invoice and Membership Data

The eBilling App increases the accuracy of your invoicing process by providing multiple options for adjustments. Carriers using the Benefitfocus Platform™ with the eBilling App can enable automated synchronization between the two systems. Your clients compare point-in-time online invoices with the most current and approved enrollment data in real time. When a discrepancy exists, the system creates an automated adjustment, and your clients pay the adjusted balance.

You can also create adjustment types and reasons with business rules regarding prorating and approval. Your clients adjust the bill on the fly and pay the adjusted amount, if permitted. For example, you can define an adjustment reason for employment termination that only allows the client to remove a person from the roster and also enforces your prorating rules for terminations when reducing the amount due. You can also customize the way these adjustments work by line of business or per client.

Simplify the Payment Process

Payment flow

Your clients want a flexible online retail experience. The eBilling App offers a variety of payment options for your clients, and they can schedule one-time and/or recurring payments. You can define which options are permitted by line of business or on a group-by-group basis. With consolidated invoicing, your clients pay the consolidated amount with a few clicks, or they pay each invoice separately and with different payment methods.

You can also use the eBilling App to capture binder payments from employers who are purchasing insurance. The eBilling App can process binder payments immediately or hold them until the sale is complete.

Improve Accounts Receivable

With the eBilling App, your Accounts Receivable (AR) specialists quickly and easily determine which clients are past due. They view an aging analysis and daily task list for their book of business right from the Home page. AR specialists easily access delinquent clients’ accounts and facilitate communication workflows, including letters, emails or notes. They are able to track and report on these delinquency communications to inform clients that their accounts are past due.
