Payroll Integration
Benefitfocus Payroll Integration connects the BENEFITFOCUS® Platform with an employer’s payroll system to simplify transmitting data for new hires, salary changes, demographic changes and terminations. With payroll integration, an employer can easily manage employee eligibility for benefits elections and payroll deductions. Payroll Integration also eliminates the need for data entry in multiple systems and ensures that correct withholding and deductions are remitted.
Benefitfocus can integrate directly with any payroll vendor and we have multiple integrations already in place, including a partnership with PayChoice. We continue to add to this list of vendors and are establishing new integrations monthly.
Data Transmission
Most large employers elect to have both a payroll import file for data coming into the Benefitfocus Platform and a payroll export file for data sent to their payroll or HR system. The following data can be imported into the Benefitfocus Platform:
- New hire
- Termination
- Rehire/Reinstate
- Date Corrections (Hire Date /Adjusted Service Date)
- Personal /Address /Emergency Contact
- Demographic change
- Payroll / Salary change
- Category changes
The following types of data can be exported to an employer’s payroll or HR system:
- Benefit elections and deductions
- Coverage level changes
- Benefit changes or cancellations
- Benefit effective dates
Discovery and Implementation
Employers can expect a one-on-one, custom experience during discovery and implementation. A Benefitfocus Implementation Manager conducts an in-depth discovery to identify an employer’s unique payroll integration scenarios and uses this information to create a specific plan to meet their needs. The Implementation Manager then works with the payroll team and the employer’s payroll vendor to ensure that the integration is seamless.
The customized integration plan serves as a guide to create the import and export files and begin testing. During testing, the Implementation Manager oversees both the import and export processes to ensure that the payroll integration files are accurate and complete. After testing, live payroll integration will begin, and employers can immediately take advantage of the efficiency of using the Platform with their payroll system.
