Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield Signs Four-Year Agreement with Benefitfocus for Web-Based Enrollment Technology

Mount Pleasant, SC and Little Rock, AR - July 1, 2003 – Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, the largest health insurer in Arkansas, serving more than 898,000 Arkansans, has signed a four-year license and services agreement with Benefitfocus.com, Inc. to provide online enrollment to Arkansas Blue Cross members.

Under the terms of the agreement, using the Benefitfocus Web-based benefits enrollment technology, Arkansas Blue Cross will offer online enrollment and 24/7 electronic access to benefits information to its large and small group customers. The agreement includes support and maintenance services as well as full implementation expertise for groups by the Benefitfocus Client Services Implementation Team. The electronic enrollment and employee self-service application will be privately labeled for Arkansas Blue Cross as BluesEnroll.

The Benefitfocus Web-based enrollment application is a robust and scalable Internet platform that allows health plan members to make their benefit selections online. Large and small group members can use a computer connected to the Internet or a Benefitfocus touch-screen kiosk to enroll in and access all their benefits. Benefitfocus will host the application for Arkansas Blue Cross in its IBM Internet Data Center.
