Benefitfocus.com Hosts Telethon for Hurricane Survivors
Charleston, SC – September 6, 2005 – Benefitfocus.com, Inc. has joined forces with several local news stations in support of the American Red Cross. Both WCSC-TV 5 and WCIV-TV4 will be hosting telethons tonight to raise money for survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Benefitfocus associates are volunteering to answer phones during the broadcast.
"So many of our associates emailed us with their concerns for the families impacted by Hurricane Katrina," says Kathleen Leen, Director of Corporate Services for Benefitfocus.com. "We contacted the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Trident United Way, and this was the first project that came up where we could make a direct impact. We’re also researching ways to help support displaced families as they are being transferred to the Charleston Air Force Base."
Benefitfocus associates will be manning the phone lines with the Channel 5 team tonight from 4 pm to 6:30 pm.
