for Electronic Billing
Mount Pleasant, SC and Kansas City, MO – April 11, 2006 – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (BCBSKC) has selected Benefitfocus.com, Inc. to provide electronic billing to its 880,000 members. The carrier anticipates reducing costs by replacing paper-based processes with Benefitfocus® eBilling, an interactive and efficient electronic billing platform.
“Since we first partnered with Benefitfocus in 2004 for electronic enrollment, we have enjoyed an excellent and successful relationship,” said Roger Foreman, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. “Recently, BCBSKC achieved 96% adoption with our electronic enrollment technology. We believe that integrating electronic billing will further enhance our competitive edge by adding new e-business solutions for our customers.”
BCBSKC, the largest health plan provider in a 32-county area, serving greater Kansas City and Northwest Missouri, will offer online billing to BCBSKC’s entire market, including individual, small and large groups.
“We are proud that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City has expanded its partnership with Benefitfocus,” said Shawn Jenkins, President and CEO of Benefitfocus.com, Inc. “We believe that eBilling will offer their groups the most efficient and state of the art payments technology on the market today.”

Designed specifically for insurance carriers and their customers, eBilling features three primary components: electronic invoicing, reconciliation and bill pay. Combining robust capabilities with a simple, intuitive interface, the application streamlines processes and improves cash flow. eBilling saves insurers an estimated $9.50 for every invoice generated, which quickly results in significant ROI.
