Benefitfocus® Launches Open Enrollment Relaxation & Rejuvenation Program
Internal program aims to invigorate and recognize associates during Open Enrollment season
Charleston, S.C. – Oct. 22, 2008 – Benefitfocus, the largest healthcare benefits software provider in the U.S., began an Open Enrollment “Relaxation & Rejuvenation” (OE R&R) program for its associates this Open Enrollment season. As many insurance carriers and employers are working on this year’s healthcare benefits Open Enrollment, the team at Benefitfocus is putting in extra hours and energy to create a seamless Open Enrollment experience for clients. The Company’s new OE R&R program is giving back to associates by incorporating activities—some energizing, some relaxing—into each day throughout the remainder of the year.
Throughout the busy Open Enrollment season, Benefitfocus associates are being offered various complimentary wellness and rejuvenation activities including breakfast and coffee a few days a week, Tae Bo and Yoga sessions, 15-minute chair massages, comedy lunch hours and monthly Lunch & Learns that will discuss topics such as “how to reduce financial strain,” “the power of a winning attitude,” and “finding balance during stressful situations.”
"Benefitfocus recognizes that the Open Enrollment season can be difficult, not only for insurance carriers and their employer groups, but for our own associates working behind-the-scenes," said Shawn Jenkins, president and CEO of Benefitfocus. "It doesn’t cost a lot to let people know you care about them with simple things such as showing comedy DVDs during lunch. We appreciate everything that our associates do to make Open Enrollment a success for our clients. We created OE R&R to give back to our team during this time and recognize their hard work with easy and innovative rewards."
By providing activities that focus on wellness, relaxation, rejuvenation and recognition, the OE R&R program is designed to value associates with simple, easy and inexpensive activities that:
- Increase laughter – Proven to reduce the level of stress hormones and enhance the immune system.
- Decrease stress and tension – Aid in the increase of circulation by taking short breaks throughout the day. Associates are encouraged to take walks and participate in free chair massages.
- Increase physical activity – By offering Tae Bo and Yoga sessions, associates have on-site access to one of the most effective methods of stress relief — physical activity.
- Increase productivity – Eating breakfast supplies ready fuel to the brain. With breakfast offered on-site, associates will have a sharpened focus and performance throughout the day.
- Increase knowledge – Through monthly Lunch & Learns, associates will learn various practical ways to ease stress.
“Benefitfocus is a family,” said Jenkins. “We work hard together and the bottom line is that we want each associate to feel as though they are a valued member of that family.”
