When it comes to sticking to New Year’s weight-loss resolutions, employees are increasingly looking to their employers for support. A new poll by Workplace Options finds that more than half of Americans said that free workplace wellness offerings would likely help them reach their health goals in 2014.
The poll found that the top wellness programs employees desire are:
- Weight loss coaching
- Smoking cessation programs
- On-site gym facility
Often achieving health goals requires a lifestyle change or adjustment. And with 53% of employees believing that sitting all day has the most negative impact on their health, it is clear they want options to support their health goals during work hours (and without them it could create a negative work environment). Employers benefit from implementing wellness programs too: healthier employees miss less work and are more productive at work. That impacts the bottom line with the added bonus of fostering employee engagement and a positive company culture.
