Shawn Jenkins is co-founder and CEO of Benefitfocus, which he established in 2000 and took public in 2013 (NASDAQ: BNFT). He started the company with a simple idea—to provide for families by reimagining an easier way for people to enroll in their benefits. Today, Shawn and the associates he leads transform that simple idea into the company’s vision—Helping people live better lives—by enabling employers and carriers with a powerful SaaS technology platform that empowers people to make better health, wealth and wellness decisions. Shawn’s emphasis on minimalist design plus sophisticated engineering, along with an energetic and inspired work culture, catapulted the company into a world-class, cloud-based benefits management technology leader. Before setting out to transform benefits management, Shawn served as vice president at American Pensions. An avid philanthropist, Shawn is a major benefactor of the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston and serves on the Advisory Board for the School of Computing at Clemson University. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Geneva College and an MBA from Charleston Southern University. A licensed aircraft pilot, he enjoys the exhilaration of flying and the joy of spending time on the ground with family and friends. His work has been featured in Fast Company, Fortune, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal among other publications.

Mason Holland, one of our founders, has been our Executive Chairman and a member of our board of directors since our founding in June 2000. Mr. Holland is responsible for the coordination of strategic partnerships with industry leaders and client relations. Mr. Holland founded American Pensions, Inc. in 1988, serving as its Chairman and President from 1988 to 2003. Mr. Holland has also established a number of other business entities throughout his 30 plus year career, including establishing Holland Properties LLC, a real estate development firm, in 1989, and acquiring Eclipse Aerospace, Inc., a jet aircraft manufacturer, in May 2009, for which he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until April 2015. Mr. Holland attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

Ray August - President and Chief Operating Officer

Ray August serves as President and COO at Benefitfocus. He joined the company in 2014 and oversees operational functions, sales and customer support efforts. Prior to joining the company, Mr. August served as the General Manager for the Financial Services division of CSC, a multi-billion dollar organization with over 10,000 employees around the world. During his 16 years at CSC, Mr. August held several leadership roles. Prior to CSC, Mr. August was Chief Technology Officer at Great Plains Software. Previously Mr. August held a management position at Price Waterhouse. He earned a B.S. in Accounting from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.

Jim Restivo - Chief Technology Officer

Jim Restivo joined Benefitfocus as Chief Technology Officer in January 2016. Mr. Restivo brings deep technical expertise to Benefitfocus with over 25 years of industry experience in leading cloud operations, product management, data analytics, information security and traditional R&D in large and mid-sized global firms with complex portfolios. Previously, Mr. Restivo served as Chief Technology Officer for numerous software companies including Dodge Data & Analytics, Inc., Kenexa Technologies and IBM. Mr. Restivo holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Stony Brook University and Master of Science in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Chief Security Officer

Scott Frost joined Benefitfocus as Chief Security Officer in May 2016. He brings more than 25 years of information security and risk management experience from leading consumer goods and services companies and is well known in the cybersecurity industry. Most recently, Mr. Frost served as chief security officer at Belk Inc., where he was responsible for all aspects of cybersecurity for the $4 billion+ retail department store. Prior to Belk, he served in a variety of leadership roles at Time Warner Cable, Home Depot, SecureEnclave and Verizon Wireless.

Annmarie Fini - Senior Vice President of Product Strategy

Annmarie Fini is the Senior Vice President of Customer Success for Benefitfocus. In this role she is responsible for the end-to-end customer experience across Professional Services, Configuration, Data Services, Customer Management, Benefits Service Center and the Benefitfocus University. As one of the first employees at Benefitfocus, Fini has been responsible for building and maintaining key client relationships, leading large client implementations and, most recently, Benefitfocus’ overall product strategy. With more than 20 years of experience in the health care and software industries, Fini is an expert in benefits, human resources and payroll, which provides a unique understanding of customer needs. Fini holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in public policy from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.

Jessica Brewer - Senior Vice President of Engineering and Global Services

Jessica Brewer is the Senior Vice President of Account Services, first establishing and now leading the entire lifecycle of the Benefitfocus Account Services practice. She previously served as the Senior Vice President of Engineering and Global Services, where she led the company's software engineering, business operations, infrastructure and application deployment teams. Jessica has over two decades of software industry experience, and since joining Benefitfocus in 2007, has been instrumental in advancing the Benefitfocus Platform through the use of innovative technologies. Jessica earned a Master of Science in Software Engineering Management from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a Minor in Computer Science from the College of Charleston.

Robert Dahdah brings to Benefitfocus over 20 years of experience in the Software as a Service, human capital management technology, and payroll sectors. As Executive Vice President of Global Sales, he will be responsible for designing the company’s overall sales strategy and leading the company’s sales teams. Mr. Dahdah joins Benefitfocus from Verizon Telematics, Inc., one of the world’s largest SaaS IoT providers, where he served as Senior Vice President, Global Sales. Prior to that, Mr. Dahdah served in multiple roles at Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADP), most recently as its Senior Vice President, Sales - Global Enterprise Solutions International, where he led sales and distribution for over 100 countries outside of the United States. During his tenure with the company he also led the global sales operations team. Mr. Dahdah holds a B.S. in marketing management from Syracuse University.

Kevin Hamilton serves as senior vice president of marketing for Benefitfocus where he leads the company’s overall marketing strategy including content and communications, demand generation, field marketing, product marketing and business development. Prior to joining Benefitfocus in 2015, Kevin served as Vice President of Marketing for Opower where he played an instrumental role in the company’s growth leading up to its successful initial public offering in 2014. Throughout his career Kevin has led high performing sales, marketing and business development teams including leadership roles at CEB, a best-practice insight and technology company based in Arlington, Va. Kevin holds a BA from the University of South Carolina and an MBA from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Jeff Oldham is the Benefitfocus Senior Vice President, Employer Sales and Benefitstore, where he leads the U.S. employer sales organization. He is the former Vice President of the Benefitfocus Benefitstore where he established and led the company’s consumer protection benefits consulting practice. Oldham is a 20+ year veteran of the insurance industry. Prior to joining Benefitfocus in 2009, he served as Regional Vice President for Nationwide Better Health and held roles at Unum and Prudential. Oldham is an industry thought leader and sought-after speaker on health and voluntary benefits, technology and ACA topics facing consumers employers and carriers/brokers. His thought leadership has been featured in BenefitsPro Magazine, Employee Benefits News/Advisor, HR Dive, TLNT and Workforce Magazine. He is listed on Employee Benefits Advisor’s 30 people to watch in employee benefits in 2017. Oldham holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi and a master’s degree in Literature from University of Essex, England.

Chris Shee is the Senior Vice President of Sales Strategy & Training at Benefitfocus. With more than 23 years of experience in sales and business development, his expertise ranges from human resource technology consulting to expanding market share for large software and technology companies. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Chris was a National Account Sales Manager for ADP. Chris received a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Akron, where he was also a member of the football team.

Rebecca Bernson - Senior Vice President of Sales Operations and Channel Sales

Rebecca Bernson serves as our Senior Vice President of Sales Operations and Channel Sales. She leads the Sales Operations team and is responsible for supporting the Carrier, Employer and Channel Sales teams. With over 30 years of experience in senior sales leadership positions, Bernson has worked with a diverse group of software and technology companies including ADP and Xerox. Rebecca received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia and serves on the Advisory Board of the Sales Management Association.

Nina Sossamon-Pogue - Vice President of Benefitfocus Media

Nina Sossamon-Pogue is the Vice President of Benefitfocus Media and is responsible for the Benefitfocus Media & Animation department. She is an Emmy Award winning journalist and news anchor who brought 20 years of communications experience when she joined the company in 2007. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, she was also a press secretary to Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards, and the Executive Editor of a regional parenting magazine, The Pink and Blue Pages. Sossamon-Pogue is a graduate of Louisiana State University, a former member of the U.S. gymnastics team and was named a Woman of Distinction by the State of South Carolina.
