Ray August - President and Chief Operating Officer

Ray August

President & Chief Executive Officer

Ray August, who has been president and chief executive officer of Benefitfocus since January 2018, leads a team of over 2,000 Benefitfocus associates who deliver technology innovation to the U.S. health care and benefits market. Prior to his current role, August served as Benefitfocus' chief operating officer starting August 2014 and was promoted to president and chief operating officer in March 2015. Before joining Benefitfocus, August served as the general manager of the Financial Services Group of Computer Sciences Corp., or CSC (now DXC Technology Co. (NYSE: DXC)), starting October 2012. From March 2008 to September 2012, he served as president of CSC Financial Services Group. Since July 2013, he has served as a member of the Executive Advisory Council for Arthur Ventures Private Equity Fund. August holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting and management science from the University of South Carolina and is a certified public accountant.

Jim Restivo - Chief Technology Officer

Jim Restivo joined Benefitfocus in January 2016 as chief technology officer, a role in which he is responsible for establishing the company’s technical vision and leading in its development. Previously serving as chief technology officer for numerous software companies, including Dodge Data & Analytics, Inc. (2015-2016), IBM (2012-2014) and Kenexa Technologies (2006-2012), Restivo has expertise in leading international R&D, cloud operations, product management, data services, data analytics and cybersecurity in large and mid-sized global firms with complex portfolios. He holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science and applied mathematics and statistics from Stony Brook University, as well as a Master of Science in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Chief Financial Officer

Jonathon Dussault joined Benefitfocus as chief financial officer in August 2017, bringing extensive strategic and financial leadership experience in the benefits technology sector. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, he served as senior vice president and senior finance officer of WEX Health, Inc. (formerly Evolution1, Inc.), a leading provider of cloud-based health savings account technology and payment solutions for the health care industry and a subsidiary of global payments processing company WEX, Inc. (NYSE: WEX). Prior to that, Dussault served as chief financial officer at Evolution1, until its acquisition by WEX. Earlier in his career, Dussault was vice president of corporate development at Women’s Health USA and was responsible for financial planning and analysis at Open Solutions, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Babson College and earned his CPA certification in Massachusetts.

Vice President & General Counsel

Paris Cavic joined Benefitfocus in March 2010 as General Counsel and currently holds the role of Vice President, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary, a role in which he is responsible for directing the company’s legal affairs. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Cavic worked with the TriZetto Group as corporate counsel. He has over 20 years of experience as an attorney and supported Benefitfocus through the acquisitions of BeliefNetworks and Benefit Informatics, the incorporation and licensing of Benefitstore, Inc. in all 50 states, and the Benefitfocus IPO in 2013. Cavic holds a Bachelor of Arts from New York University, a JD and LLM from Albany Law School of Union University and an MBA in management and technology from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Robert Dahdah

Executive Vice President of Global Sales

Robert Dahdah joined Benefitfocus in July 2017 as executive vice president of global sales and marketing, a role in which he is responsible for designing the company’s overall sales strategy and leading the sales, marketing and communications teams. He brings over 20 years of experience in the software-as-a-service, human capital management technology and payroll sectors. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Dahdah served as senior vice president for Verizon Telematics, Inc., one of the world’s largest SaaS IoT providers. He also served in multiple roles at Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADP), most recently as its senior vice president of sales for global enterprise solutions, leading all sales and distribution for ADP in over 100 countries outside of the United States. Dahdah holds a Bachelor of Science in marketing management from Syracuse University.

Vice President of Corporate Project Management

Myra Frailey is the vice president of Benefitfocus’ corporate project management office, to which she brings over 30 years of financial services and consulting industry experience. In her current role Frailey is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-level company priorities, including the implementation of consistent practices and tools to drive maximum efficiency across the business. Frailey joined Benefitfocus in September 2015 as the senior director of HR program management. Prior to that, she worked for over 16 years at CSC (now DXC Technology Co. (NYSE: DXC)) in a number of roles, most recently as the HR business partner for several business units including cybersecurity, health care, consulting, insurance and sales. Frailey holds a Bachelor of Science in management science and marketing from the University of South Carolina.

Lou Anne Gilmore is vice president of corporate development at Benefitfocus and brings over 35 years of experience in providing complex technology and services solutions to the financial and health care industries. In her current role Gilmore is responsible for the company’s merger and acquisition activites and corporate planning. Gilmore joined the company in January 2018. Prior to that, she worked for CSC (now DXC Technology Co. (NYSE: DXC)) as the CFO for their Business Solution and Services Unit. Gilmore holds a Bachelor of Administration in accounting from the University of Texas and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Ken Haderer joined Benefitfocus in 2018 as Executive vice president of global operations, a role in which he is responsible for driving operational excellence and accelerating Benefitfocus' business growth, scaling customer success best practices and facilitating expansion efforts. Haderer brings an extensive leadership, operations, brokerage and technology background with him to Benefitfocus. Previously, he held several roles at Mercer, including president of North America, global chief operating officer and leader of their U.S. benefits administration business. Before joining Mercer, Haderer was an executive vice president overseeing Aon Global Benefits Solution, and prior to that, he led Aon's U.S. benefits administration business and served on the Americas Executive Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in computer science and business management from Drew University and a Master of Business Administration from the W. Paul Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University.

Patti Leahy joined Benefitfocus in June 2018 as vice president of transformation, a role in which she is responsible for enabling successful execution of the company’s strategy by fostering company-wide alignment and accountability around its strategic objectives. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Leahy established her own consulting group, CHAT Communications LLC., helping organizations successfully develop and execute strategies to meet key objectives. She has over 20 years of experience in the technology, media and communications industries and has led global investor relations functions for three publicly traded companies. Leahy holds a Bachelor of Arts in international relations from Oklahoma State University and an MBA in international business from Thunderbird, the Global School of Management.

Leadership Team - Chris Scarth

Senior Vice President of Global Business Operations

Chris Scarth is the senior vice president of global business operations at Benefitfocus, where he is responsible for overseeing new customer engagements. Scarth has over 20 years of software industry experience, joining Benefitfocus in 2014 as the vice president of business operations before moving to vice president of sales operations. In these roles, he was responsible for globalizing and optimizing teams, introducing delivery assurance programs, leading general and administrative functions, and winning some of Benefitfocus’ largest and most complex sales pursuits. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Scarth worked for over 17 years at CSC (now DXC Technology Co. (NYSE: DXC)) in various finance and customer-facing roles, leading large IT services contracts around the world. He holds a bachelor’s degrees with honors in European history, economics and French from the University of Bradford in England and the Universite Pierre Mendes in Grenoble, France.

Debi Stafford joined Benefitfocus in May 2016 and serves as the senior vice president of human resources. In this role, she leads the cross-organizational HR support teams, including recruiting, HR operations, benefits and HR business partners. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Stafford worked for 24 years as the global vice president of human resources for CSC (now DXC Technology Co. (NYSE: DXC)), headquartered in Falls Church, Va., and was responsible for associates and initiatives that spanned 33,000 people and 63 countries. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Texas.

Jessica Brewer - Senior Vice President of Engineering and Global Services

Jessica Brewer

Senior Vice President of Account Services

Jessica Brewer is the senior vice president of account services, first establishing and now leading the entire lifecycle of the Benefitfocus Account Services practice. Brewer has over two decades of software industry experience, joining Benefitfocus in 2007 as vice president of engineering, before being promoted to senior vice president of engineering and global services. In these roles, she led the company's software engineering, business operations, and infrastructure and application deployment teams and was instrumental in advancing the Benefitfocus Platform through the use of innovative technologies. Brewer holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a minor in computer science from the College of Charleston, as well as a Master of Science in software engineering management from the University of Maryland.

Phil Bruns

Philip Bruns

Senior Vice President and General Manager of Analytics

Phil Bruns is the senior vice president and general manager of analytics at Benefitfocus. In this role, he leads the enterprise and consumer analytics business units for Benefitfocus, responsible for products and services that provide insight to consumers, employers and brokers to promote a clear understanding of employee benefits choices, utilization, cost and effectiveness. From March 2016 to April 2018, Bruns served as chief technology and operating officer of Employers Health Network Holdings, LLC. Prior to that, he held roles at Benefitfocus as senior vice president of technology infrastructure (January 2015 – March 2016) and vice president of informatics (August 2010 – January 2015). Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Bruns was COO of Benefit Informatics, a company that pioneered population health management analytics tools for employers and employees before being acquired by Benefitfocus in 2010. Bruns holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of Oklahoma, Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University and a Master of Science in physical science from the University of Houston.

Ed Charlton joined Benefitfocus in May 2018 as vice president and general manager, bringing with him over 30 years of experience in insurance technology. In his current role, he is responsible for several key customer relationships and for contributing to the strategy of Benefitfocus BenefitsPlace™. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Charlton served as global director for insurance software at DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC), where he was responsible for all of DXC’s insurance software strategy and P&L. Before joining DXC, he was president and CEO of Legalgard, one of the first legal bill review BPOs in the U.S. When DXC acquired Legalgard, Charlton joined the company to commercialize Legalgard’s internal BPO software for clients. Charlton holds a JD in law from Villanova University. 

Annmarie Fini - Senior Vice President of Product Strategy

Annmarie Fini is the senior vice president of customer success for Benefitfocus. In this role, which she has held since February 2016, she is responsible for the end-to-end customer experience across professional services, customer management and support, BENEFITFOCUS® Benefits Service Center, customer engagement and account general management. Fini joined Benefitfocus in December 2000 and has held several leadership positions since that time, including senior vice president of product strategy (February 2013 – February 2016) and senior vice president of employer group (August 2009 – February 2013), the latter of which saw her instrumental in establishing Benefitfocus’ employer business, with responsibility for leading large client implementations and building and maintaining key client relationships. With more than 20 years of experience in the health care and software industries, Fini is an expert in benefits, human resources and payroll, giving her a unique understanding of customer needs. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in public policy from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.

Drake Manning joined Benefitfocus in January 2018 and is the senior director of corporate communications, responsible for PR, media and community relations, social media and overall corporate communications strategy. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Manning served as vice president, communications at Swiss Re, where he was responsible for media relations, communications strategy and thought leadership initiatives supporting the company’s North America Corporate Solutions division. Prior to that, he held senior marketing and communications positions at The Hartford, Chubb and Darwin, where he served on the management team which grew Darwin from start-up to IPO and the first company to list on the NYSE-Arca platform in 2006. Manning has more than 20 years of experience in communications, brand and media strategy, and M&A integrations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Connecticut.

Holly Olive joined Benefitfocus in April 2018 as general manager of Benefitfocus BenefitsPlace™. In this role, she is responsible for commercializing  BenefitsPlace, a solution that enables consumers to access a complete set of industry-leading voluntary benefits. Before joining Benefitfocus, Olive served as director of business process services at CSC (now DXC Technology Co. (NYSE: DXC)), where she led CSC’s life and wealth business process services division. Prior to that, she held several leadership positions at IBM, most recently as insurance executive for IBM Insurance Outsourcing Services. In this role, she was the general manager responsible for profit and loss and client satisfaction for key BPO contracts. Olive holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northland University in Dunbar, Wisc. She is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and Quality Trainer.

Mike Vetter

Senior Vice President of Customer Success

Michael Vetter joined Benefitfocus in 2018 as senior vice president of customer success. In this role, he is responsible for the end-to-end customer experience across customer management and support, implementations, the Benefitfocus Benefits Service Center, and customer engagement. Prior to joining the Benefitfocus team, Vetter held various leadership positions at Mercer and Xerox Corporation, including leading a successful benefits administration portfolio with $125M in revenue and a 97% renewal rate over a 3-year period. Vetter has an extensive background in customer and project management, strategy, and operations. He holds a Business degree from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science in Philadelphia, PA.

Cameron White

Vice President of Finance

Cameron White is the vice president of finance at Benefitfocus. In this role, which she has held since January 2017, she is responsible for financial planning and analysis, procurement, and treasury and is a key contributor to our investor relations team. White joined Benefitfocus in October 2013 and has held several leadership positions since that time, including vice president of business units, a role in which she was responsible for leading a team of general managers. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, she held various leadership roles within the finance organizations of Air Products & Chemicals and Blackbaud, most recently as the manager of financial planning and analysis for the international business unit at Blackbaud. White holds a Bachelor of Arts in physics with a minor in economics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
