How it helps

Voya offers a competitive suite of supplemental health insurance benefits that can complement your medical insurance offering. Accident Insurance, Critical Illness* Insurance, and Hospital Confinement Indemnity Insurance provide benefits for covered events and can help employees and their families minimize the financial impact of an accident, illness or hospitalization. Benefits are paid directly to the insured and can be used as they choose such as on out-of-pocket medical expenses or even such things as groceries, childcare or travel. Plus, they’re adaptable to your benefits program needs, and are designed to be easy on the front-end administration and during the end-user claimant experience.

These are limited benefit policies. They are not health insurance and do not satisfy the requirement of minimum essential coverage under the affordable care act.

  • A cut finger in the kitchen. A broken arm on the ball field. Accidents can happen. Accident Insurance pays benefits for specific injuries and events resulting from a covered accident that occurs on or after the coverage effective date. Employees can use the benefits their Accident Insurance pays to help cover the out-of-pocket costs that can come up as a result of an accident, such as copays, deductibles, and rehab-related expenses.
  • A critical illness* diagnosis can turn a life upside down, and even have a financial impact. Critical Illness Insurance can help minimize that financial impact by paying a lump-sum benefit if an employee is diagnosed with a covered disease or condition. Employees can use that their benefit to help pay for their out-of-pocket medical expenses, as well as everyday costs like mortgage payments, travel to and from hospitals, daycare, and utilities.
  • Hospital stays can be costly, whatever the reason we find ourselves there. Hospital Indemnity Insurance pays a fixed daily benefit if you have a covered stay in a hospital. An employee can use their benefit to help pay their out-of-pocket expenses such as those that are outside of medical insurance or a part of a medical plan deductible.

Additional considerations

  • With Voya Claims 360, our integrated and intuitive claims models strive to boost utilization by sending claim reminders – and in some cases, making automatic benefits payments for covered events – to help employees receive eligible benefit payments they might otherwise overlook. One goal is to help employers realize administrative and claims process efficiencies that can positively impact the time and effort required to support employees.
  • The Voya Employee Benefits Resource Center (EBRC) was designed to make finding supplemental health insurance benefits information and filing claims accessible and approachable – especially important during what may be a very stressful time.
